For the first time in the history of SORA, we have placed our bid and committed to attend the Head of the Charles in Boston. Recognized as the biggest Head race in the world, this year's race will commemorate the 55th anniversary and takes place October 19 -20th.
Due to the overall number of entries and competition, Head of the Charles uses the lottery system so participation is not guaranteed. I entered 5 entries last month and hope to get all 5 entries accepted making a total of 17 participants - both girls and boys. The proposal is that juniors and seniors will be given priority and are eligible for the Head of the Charles and it’s selection. Due to the time constraints and the short notice that we will be given, participation in this regatta will be based on fitness and performance now and at the start of the season. It is highly recommended that athletes who are interested in being considered for, and participating in the Head of the Charles, enter the start of the season at a suitable standard of fitness.
To help you both myself (email@example.com) and Coach Deidrah (firstname.lastname@example.org) are both available to assist with pre-season workouts.
It should be noted that this travel regatta will have a financial implication greater than usual. The total cost is expected to be approximately $1000. Whilst there will be fundraising that should lower the per-rower cost you should be aware of the potential financial impact. All efforts will be made from the start of the season to raise money in all types of fundraising to help offset these costs as much as possible. If due to this potential cost you are unable to attend, please let me know as soon as possible.
Enjoy your summer and I look forward to our best season ever!
